I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (CBT) and a Cognitive Analytic Therapist (CAT). I have been practicing since 1996 and have worked in the NHS most of my professional life. More recently I have worked in a University setting (Programme Director), training cognitive-behavioural therapists, doing research and developing new treatments.

I work with people with long-standing emotional and relational issues (e.g. morbid jealousy), as well as with other mood and anxiety disorders (e.g. OCD, depression, phobias, anxiety conditions). Following a screening appointment I either treat people with CBT or CAT depending on what would help them most. Both of these approaches are evidenced-based and help people to take control of their lives, feelings and relationships through a collaborative therapeutic relationship.

Both CBT and CAT are short-term approaches and usually last from 6-24 sessions, as dictated by National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommendations.

I am active in my own research in helping to develop and evaluate psychological treatments. I have a research career spanning 17 years and have published many articles and books.

I work to ethical standards as set out by the British Psychological Society (e.g. issues of confidentiality), BABCP and ACAT.
