I have worked in counselling in many different environments since qualification in 2011 and understand that it can be very hard to make that first step towards seeking help. I aim to be as welcoming and empathetic as possible, seeking to understand issues from your perspective. I believe in the unique qualities of every person and feel privileged to be invited in to somebody else’s life and experience.
I have worked with people from all backgrounds with varying issues which they want to address. I have experience of working with many different forms of abuse (including emotional, sexual and physical); bereavement – both before and after death and also other forms of loss. I have also worked with clients who are at a turning point in their lives and need to stop and re-assess.
My approach to my work is integrative in that I refer to different models and theories adapting the work and activities to the needs of my clients. I seek to create a safe environment where clients feel comfortable to explore a variety of issues. As a registered Member of the BACP I work within its Ethical Framework referring to its guidelines as and when necessary and receiving regular supervision.
Since qualification in 2011 I have provided counselling for a variety of organisations including those in vulnerable housing, hospices, GP referrals and my own private practice.
