Samantha Ropero

As a Humanistic Integrative counsellor I respect your unique experience and will provide you with an opportunity to explore personal development, growth and recognise your inner strengths in order to move forward. My way of working draws on person centred and Gestalt theory with a focus on working creatively if desired. I have an interest in relational, embodied and psycho educational ways of working.

I offer a safe and confidential space for us to discuss any issues that may be troubling you without judgement. Together we can explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviours and build an understanding of what has brought you to counselling. We can look at possible ways for you to move forward, manage your issues and the coping strategies you may utilize.

My approach is respectful, non-judgmental and collaborative meaning we are able to explore together how we will structure our sessions and focus on the changes you may want to make together.

I currently hold a Masters qualification in counselling and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Counselling and Psychology. I am a registered member of the BACP and work within their ethical guidelines. I regularly undertake professional development  in order to keep my practise and knowledge current. I also have experience co-facilitating group training and therapy groups.

My specialism’s include working with trauma, abuse and learning disabilities / difficulties. I also have a wealth of experience working with a wide range of issues including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship and mental health issues.

I have provided counselling in a number of different settings such as: the probation service, women’s services, specialist trauma, abuse and rape crisis services, a brief therapy service and with Employment Assistance Programmes.

I offer both long and short term therapy and am happy to discuss what may work best for you. You are welcome to book an initial consultation with me where we can discuss how I work and how working together may benefit you.

Prior to becoming a counsellor I worked with adults with learning disabilities and spent a number of years travelling and working abroad.
