My name is Jo,  I am a qualified Relate and Emotion Focused Therapy couples
counsellor and a member of both the BACP and ICEEFT.
I understand that choosing the right therapist can be difficult so I offer a a
complementary no-obligation friendly 30-minute discovery call on the telephone or
Microsoft Teams to see if we’re the right fit.

I offer 50 minute counselling sessions and usually see clients weekly or monthly but I
understand the need for flexibility in counselling so I will be guided by your needs
when it comes to the frequency of your sessions.
I have a wealth of life experience we can draw upon in our work together. I
understand from my professional career prior to qualifying as a counsellor that the
interplay between work and relationship stresses can often cause conflicting
thoughts about what you are doing or what you feel you should be doing, and why.
This can leave you feeling trapped and isolated in a job or relationship you used to
enjoy, not understanding why that may no longer be the case.
Making important decisions alone can be understandably overwhelming. Perhaps
you worry you are not being true to who you are and how you feel.  Perhaps you or
your partner have done something you regret or it may be that you have simply lost
sight of each other? Talking things through with a counsellor may seem daunting at
first but it can help untangle these difficult feelings and decisions to enable you to
move forward with confidence in your chosen direction.

I draw upon various therapeutic models depending on my clients’ presenting need at
the time. I have particular experience of practising EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy)
which is considered to be one of the most effective methods for couples counselling.
Research shows that 90% of couples who undergo EFT experience significant
improvements in their relationship, and 70-75% no longer meet the criteria for
relationship distress after treatment.
