Hi my name is Juliett Barrott, I work with young people and adults. In a career spanning 17 years, I have
completed my role as a counsellor in a range of settings of across Chesterfield, Rotherham Doncaster and
Sheffield, I have worked within Sure Start, in primary and secondary education settings, IAPT, GP and Private
Practice I have worked with Adult, young people, parent/carers between the ages of 4 and 73 years.
In my role as a counsellor I use key skills, and adhere to legal requirements developed during training,
incorporating workplace procedures, when appropriate. An example of this is the use of the Gillick
competence assessment, when working in school settings. Maintaining that child protection protocol of
organisation and also working within the legal framework of therapy, I complete CPD updating my Child/ and
adult Safeguarding Protection training each year.
Within my roles I’m tasked with completing initial mental health and risk assessments, at week 1, this process
establishes a client’s potential risk relating to imminence and severity of negative event/s, and or thoughts.
Work maybe both short and or long term with boundaries established within the initial assessment session. I
also consider appropriate treatment and therapeutic models such as, CBT, psychodynamic, solution focus
methods, ETC or an intergraded approach.
Housekeeping; brief notes, along outcome toolkit, and Client record. Time management, I organise my own
time and case load within the service by checking the waiting list, and online self assessment tools establishing
potential risk which might mean fast tracking and booking new clients appointments accordingly.
Therapeutic contact levels vary in durations, from a few weeks, months or several years, a dynamic and
adaptable approach is employed. I provide reflective therapeutic practice within schools my practice; through
consultation, assessment, formulation and direct work with Adults, children and young people. As a senior
clinical counsellor with Caritas and within my private practice I deliver a needs-led professional service, helping
adult’s children and young people to reach their full potential. Therapy prompts self-knowledge which enables
individuals to work on self and or resolve issue, whilst some issues might be similar such as grief; bereavement
each person is treated in a person centred empathetic way, used a number of interventions to aid and help
individuals overcome emotional resistance due to trauma.
Enabling client to resolve and or manage issues during their time within therapy and beyond.
Some of the issues I have worked through with the above group are;
• Relationship Problems, • Career and life Choices, • Coping with grief and trauma,
• Lack of self confidence or esteem, • Academic difficulties, • Anger issues,
• Depression, • Sexual assault, • Loneliness, • Eating disorders, • Work related stress, • Bullying and
harassment, • bereavement, • Anxiety and depression, • Family issues, • Physical and verbal abuse, • Exam
