Laurie Barnes

I believe we all have the ability to grow, change, and better understand ourselves. With both life experience and counselling training, I offer a warm, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. I value honesty, individuality, and the importance of a genuine therapeutic relationship, and I’ll work alongside you as you find your own path, free from pressure or judgment.

I work with adults from a wide range of backgrounds who may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, loss, or simply a sense of feeling stuck or overwhelmed. You don’t need to have a clear reason for seeking counselling—sometimes it’s enough to know that something doesn’t feel quite right. I welcome clients at different stages of their journey and aim to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and understood.

I also have experience supporting individuals affected by sexual harm, and I approach this work with sensitivity, care, and respect for each person’s unique experience. Whether you are processing past experiences or looking for a safe space to begin talking about difficult feelings, I will work at a pace that feels right for you.

I have experience in working with:

  • Childhood trauma and developmental trauma
  • Attachment wounds and relationship difficulties
  • Recovery from child sexual abuse and sexual harm
  • Fertility, infertility, IVF, pregnancy loss, and emotional wellbeing
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Work related issues

Sessions are £55 and last 50 minutes. I offer both short-term and open-ended work, depending on what feels right for you.

Working hours

  • Monday afternoon 13.00 – 17.00 Murray Road.
