Leanne Clayton

I am a qualified Level 5 Pluralistic Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, a qualified Hypnotherapist & trained in Trauma Focused CBT. I have longstanding experience working with mental & emotional health, this includes relational work, early childhood experiences, & traumatic events. What is meant by the word ‘pluralistic’ is that I use many different approaches and theories that best meet your needs in the moment by blending my skills. Aside from offering different skills, for me, the foundation is all about our therapeutic relationship, this is something that we will base all our work from, to build a safe & genuine connected therapeutic dynamic. It is my aim to offer you the space to have a voice, be heard & be noticed, with care & acceptance so that making sense of your experiences, growth, learning & new experiences can come as a result.

I like to work with both a directive & non-directive approach, this is client dependant & this is to support you get the best out of your sessions. I am PACE trained which is a model created by Dr. Dan Hughes, this allows a therapeutic conversation to happen in a structured way that is Accepting of where you are at, Curious of what maybe or is happening, Empathising with your internal experience & occasionally adding some playfulness to upregulate only when appropriate.

Other Modalities that I use is a Humanistic Approach, Psychodynamic, Parts Therapy & CBT which I like to view as weaving through the past, present & future. I believe that the power of human relationships can both be harmful yet healing & when connection is right, safe & online this is when we can reflect, learn & let go of those things that still cause us pain & suffering in the here & now. I value this depth within human connection & sometimes wonder over a higher power such as quantum physics that wants to bring coherence & balance back into our space.

Some of the areas that I am experienced in working with are:

  • Bereavement, Grief, & Loss
  • Chronic health conditions that have impacted mental wellbeing
  • Acute & chronic stress, both personal & work related.
  • Emotional regulation skills
  • Childhood experiences
  • Relational Trauma
  • Traumatic event / events

  • Low mood / Destabilisation
  • Self-esteem & Shame
  • Emotional & Mental Abuse
  • Self-Discovery & Meaning Making

I hold a membership under the NCPS & work in line with their code of ethics, I am ICO registered as I handle your data & complete CPD through the year so that I can update skills & explore other modalities so that I can be the best I can be for my clients.
