Rachel Armitage

As a qualified Integrative therapist I want to afford you a confidential and safe space to feel heard, held and supported while you explore what may be feeling heavy for you. My modality is not one dimensional and I lean towards Person Centred and Gestalt ways of working.

My experience of working as a trauma informed therapist in Sheffield for the past 18 years means I embrace the power of psychoeducattive work, understanding that our responses to life can be necessary, normal and appropriate yet often unhelpful for long term good mental health.

We can explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviours together to understand what has brought you to therapy.  I am not here to tell you what to do, or judge you in any way, instead to hear you and truly try to imagine how feelings or experiences may be shaping your world.

Together we will structure our sessions and focus on the changes you wish to make.

I am a registered member of the BACP and work within their ethical guidelines. I regularly attend professional development courses in order to keep my practise and knowledge relevant.

I have extensive experience of working with the legacy of trauma, sexual violence and abuse. I currently work at Sheffield Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre where I also clinically assess Clients and facilitate group work. I have always migrated towards the third sector, having previously worked in sexual health for the NHS, Lifeworks Australia, The Meningitis Trust, Children In Need,  Burngreave Advocacy, where I also supervised and managed teams of volunteers.

I offer short to medium term therapy, but we can discuss what this means to you. I see individuals and couples.

We can arrange a telephone or zoom initial meeting
