Dr Helena Drury

I am passionate about helping people to access therapy that has been scientifically tested and proven to be helpful. Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is the main approach I use, and I also draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I am a Clinical Psychologist and BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I worked in the NHS as a psychologist for over 10 years and am experienced in working with people with a range of difficulties, including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, panic, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, body dysmorphic disorder and hoarding disorder. I am also experienced in supporting individuals to manage the impact of long-term physical health conditions alongside anxiety and/or low mood.

One of the things I really like about CBT is that it is very collaborative, and we work together to develop a shared understanding of the problem, and to share ideas about how to break vicious cycles of anxiety and/or low mood. I also like that CBT is very active, and helps you to develop a toolkit of different strategies to improve your well-being. In our work together we can look at how these strategies can help you overcome difficulties in the short-term and to work towards longer-term goals beyond therapy.
