Georgia Wright

Hello, my name is Georgia, I offer individual Art therapy in person at Cornerstone.

I am a Qualified HCPC and BAAT Registered Art Psychotherapist, with almost five years of experience in inpatient services. I have also worked within educational settings in the community, with young people and Adults. Art has an incredible way of allowing us to explore our thoughts and feelings without needing to say it. We live our world surrounded by images, objects and sensory experiences, therefore I feel we should take awareness to the world around us in order to understand ourselves better.

My practice is mainly Psychodynamic , however I aim to deliver my work in a humanistic way, allowing you to use the space as you feel necessary. I believe the body is a great indicator in communicating our emotions and stressors, and understand that trauma can impact the way a person may think, feel or behave. I use a variety of informed practices in my work, such as Somatic Experiencing, DBT and CBT skills. I use mindfulness practice in my work also. I also work for SaYiT, a LGBTQ+ affirmative charity.

Art Therapy is a non-judgemental, experimental space where art making can be used to play, explore and understand our thoughts, feelings and behaviours in a non-directive way. I can offer a more talk and counselling-based approach if you are unsure about using art making in therapy, however we can discuss this in due course.
