People come to counselling for many reasons. Sometimes there is a specific event which has
happened that you want to talk about. There could be a current situation that you want to work out
and you need to do this with a counsellor rather than a friend. I have the advantage of being
unbiased and not knowing the other people you may talk about. I would be only on your side,
listening to what you choose to share. There may also be times when you feel depressed or anxious
and a talking therapy has been recommended to you. It may be that your work or doctor has advised
you try talking therapy. You may just feel quite out of sorts and want to work out what is happening.
Whilst I firmly believe that counselling works best with once a week session over a number of weeks,
I do understand that sometimes you need to try it out. Sometimes people have 3 sessions and
sometimes it’s 33. You and I will discuss how many sessions you think you need and you and I will
discuss when it’s right to end our work together.

I work as a person-centred counsellor which means that I do not give advice or give you exercises to
do. I firmly believe that you are the expert in your own life and you know what you want to talk
about. I create a safe and confidential space for you to talk about whatever you choose. And don’t
worry if you’re not sure what you want to talk about, I believe that whatever is important will come
out.

I have worked as a counsellor for a number of national organisations including Rape Crisis and
Women’s Aid. I worked with survivors of rape, sexual assault and incest and young people
experiencing domestic abuse in their personal relationships or within their family. I have also worked
for a charity in which counselled vulnerable young people. I was a school counsellor in a large
secondary school where I counselled the students and the members of staff which lead to a wide
variety of presenting issues:

Rape and sexual assault
Disordered eating
Relationships – family, friends or romantic
Body image
Self-esteem
Stress
Work issues
Thoughts of taking your own life
Self-harm
Bereavement
Low mood
Attachment
Working with children and young people
Bullying
Adult survivors of childhood abuse

I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and teacher and a member of the BACP.
My current fee is £55 per 50 minute session.

I have sessions available on
Monday from 10am – 3pm
